Jahmair Jones, 19, and a 17-year-old co-conspirator are facing multiple attempted murder charges after local residents reported shootings in separate incidents in August, the Aberdeen Police Department announced this week.

The first incident was reported at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 8, when residents reported hearing gunshots in the area of East Bel Air Avenue and a woman stated that someone shot at her 21-year-old son while he was driving, though the bullet only hit his vehicle.

Jones was identified as the shooting suspect in that case, and then linked to a second incident a week later.

On Aug. 15, Jones is also accused of a second shooting, after a 51-year-old woman called police after she and her family was shot at on Polk Street.

In that case, the woman says she was returning home with her husband and 21-year-old son when two men opened fire on them, striking the front of their home and a vehicle parked in the driveway.

One bullet went into an upstairs bedroom where the woman's daughter and 1-year-old granddaughter were resting, investigators said. No injuries were reported.

Jones and a 17-year-old suspect whose name has not been released were identified as the shooters. Police noted that "both shootings appear to be targeted attack involving gang members and gang member associates."

Both were charged with:

  • Three counts of attempted first-degree murder;
  • Three counts of attempted second-degree murder;
  • First-degree assault;
  • Reckless endangerment.

The 17-year-old will be tried as an adult and is being held without bond at the Harford County Detention Center. A 15-year-old was also charged with accessory after the fact and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder following the incident.

Jones is being held without bond at the detention center.
